In the event of a fire, once the fire brigade have cleared the building for re-entry or you have successfully put the fire out (if it was small enough to contain) then please call us and we will come out and take a look at the damage, advising you of the next steps.
Firstly we will remove all damaged floorboards and assess how deep the damage goes before advising you on the most appropriate options available. Because fire can leave harmful toxins, we’ll thoroughly clean the area using our professional machinery and detergents. We’ll also happily talk to your insurance company and write reports based on damage and required work. We have vast experience when it comes to dealing with fire damage and have helped many people whose floors have suffered at the hands of fire whether it be a residential property or a commercial premises.
If the fire damage has occurred in one specific area and has not affected the whole floor we will be able to replace the damaged hardwood boards. Unfortunately fire tends to spread quickly and if it does get into the floor the damage may extend beyond the floorboards into the subfloor underneath. We will be able to advise you on the best course of action and whether you need to have the subfloor replaced. If you can get away with just replacing a section of the hardwood floor we will endeavour to find the best match possible. Sometimes manufacturers discontinue certain products and because hard flooring is real wood you may not be able to get an exact match to the grain or the color. In these circumstances if we can’t make a perfect match we will be able to re-stain and re-coat the whole floor.
