Although it’s generally more resistant to heavy traffic and wear and tear than natural wood, laminate wood floors can still suffer damage over time. Stiletto heels and heavy chairs are both notorious enemies to laminate floor, and accidents can happen when moving furniture or machinery.

Another problem with laminate floor can be the movement of the floor over time. Most of the time laminate floor is fitted without nails and glue and any variation in temperature or humidity can mean that the boards warp, expand, contract and move around. You may also find that over time the floor starts to show gaps between the boards or around the doors and edges. In this instance we may be able to replace a few boards but if the floor has been down for a few years it might be worth considering having a whole new floor. Laminate flooring doesn’t tend to cost as much as hardwood flooring and it may be worth considering having the entire floor replaced.

If you have a commercial premises like a shop or shopping mall you will probably have chosen laminate flooring over hardwood flooring because it is more resistance to things like stilettos and trolleys. If the floor encounters heavy footfall it is very likely that over time it will need to be replaced – whether it’s the entire floor or the section of flooring that endures the most wear we will be able to help.
